The goal was to replace traditional 2D cutout graphics with dynamic 3D CGI segments featuring real Indian players, coupled with quirky messaging and multilingual elements. This 3D CGI Campaign aimed to offer viewers a refreshing perspective of Star Sports, allowing them to celebrate their favourite players during the World Cup. The challenge was to seamlessly integrate 3D CGI player segments into Star Sports broadcasts, emphasizing the larger-than-life avatars of five Indian cricket players during the World Cup. This required meticulous planning, collaboration with Starlab, and overcoming technical hurdles to bring the 3D CGI Marketing Campaign to life.

Larger - than- life avatars of five Indian players showcased in major cities.
We strategically selected Mumbai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Dharamshala, and Bangalore as cities to host the larger-than-life avatars of Indian cricket stars. Each city had a designated location, such as the Gateway of India in Mumbai or the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, aligning with the home cities of the players.
Through a complex yet efficient pipeline, we conducted data and photogrammetry-driven photoshoots of the players. This allowed us to create detailed 3D models within a tight timeframe of three days. Using motion capture technology, we recreated the players’ signature moves at an impressive 240FPS.
Given Star Sports' position with the world’s highest concurrent viewership, the CGI segments were produced in five different languages. This strategic move aimed to provide an immersive experience for Star Sports fans across the country.
The CGI campaign heavily relied on CGI technology for creating lifelike avatars and seamlessly integrating them into live broadcasts. The use of motion capture technology, coupled with object tracking and prop mechanisms, played a pivotal role in ensuring the authenticity and precision of the avatars' movements
Star Sports witnessed unparalleled success in the 3D CGI campaign, with viewers across the country experiencing the dynamic 3D CGI segments featuring their favourite players. The multilingual aspect added a unique touch, and the campaign became a revolutionary step in enhancing the World Cup viewing experience, marking a significant achievement for Star Sports in the realm of sports entertainment.
